So here it is. My first real okonomiyaki, fresh grated Japanese yam and everything! Kewpie mayo, okonomiyaki sauce, kamaboko (yuk), cabbage, daikon, onion, and katsuobushi. And flour and eggs, of course. They were ok right off the "griddle," but eating them after they cooled off was a bad idea. Plus the kamaboko makes me sick, so Ryan will be eating the rest. I will eat rice with mayo, tuna, and maybe corn. o.O



Not only is today my dad's 60th b-day, but the FF Crystal Chronicles game for the DS is coming out today. Yay! I've been wanting to play it for a while. It sounds neat. Hope it is. Before that, I'm playing thru FF7, the first time in over 6 years!! That's like... 2/7 of my life or something right there, spent not playing FF7. What a tragedy. T_T Too bad I keep getting urges to draw whenever I play that and Suikoden 3. I finished penciling a picture of Bridget from Guilty Gear just now. Will see how that goes.

Now to continue to sketch!

I worked for a loooong time on my comp biochem proposal last night and today, but I think I got it pretty squared away. Now I just need to talk to someone about it next week. It sounds all... smart-ish. XD

Looks like Half.com is finally behaving itself. I got a copy of Tempest 2000 for $10. It's coming out of my PSP fund, but I think it will make Ryan happy, plus it's a cool game. It might genuinely take a while for my PSP fund to actually be able to be used too. Not til I get my rebate check, and get the car checked, and not spend too much money so I run out before I get my loans next fall. @_@ It sucks being all poor n stuff.

Once again, I am all writed-out. I still have a research paper to do this week, but I won't start til Fri, probably. I will spend these next few days on my probability stuff, that I'm horribly behind on. *sigh* I wonder if the homework's posted yet.

Gonna check, then play Revenant Wings. No sense in trying to sleep when the idiots next door are creeping around outside like some sort of noisy fungus.

Note to self: Regardless of long distance cost, MUST CALL DAD ON THURSDAY!!!

This week's food: チャーハン, aka Japanese fried rice. It's Japanese cuz I put katsuobushi in it. XD



I think I am getting better with my food photography. :3 And food making. I didn't use a recipe, just the Japanese wiki page for reference. Ryan even licked his plate clean. :3 Aww. I must say, the onions and carrots could have cooked a little longer, but it was alright. I loooove the green onions. Mmm.

One crummy thing though. I couldn't find any BBQ pork. I got some Oscar Meyer turkey bacon to put in it. UUUUUGH. I tried a piece and it was horrid. I ended up accidentally dropping the open pack on the kitchen floor. >< I think Jesus did it so I wouldn't have to eat it. Go Jesus!

I still feel really busy even though I don't think I've done any homework for a full 24 hours now. I have to get back to it soon...

I will post more later when I am less woozy.

While Ryan played Twilight Princess feverishly in the other room, I made カレー ライス! I used a modified recipe I got here. I added extra potatoes, no tofu, celery or garlic, and added chicken, and used more of the golden curry roux (the mild kind, too). We had a ton of fun finding the ingredients in our local Chinese supermarket. I bought some natto for later. I'm curious to see what's so disgusting about it. Hehehe...



Mmm. I think it needed fewer potatoes and more carrots, and more onion too. I'll try the spicy kind next time too.

After eating sushi at the convenience store in the dorms for a couple of weeks, I got an urge to try and make my own instead of spending $5 a pop on 6-8 pieces of the stuff. So I did. My intent was California rolls. I thought they went really well until I saw a picture of them online. I made them inside out!!!



D'oh. Well, the plus side is they taste good, which is amazing since it's a Good Eats recipe, and all of Alton's recipes I've done before were pretty bad (even the baked potatoes). Maybe I'm just getting better, or it's impossible to screw up maki rolls...? Interestingly, I unlocked the California roll on Cooking Mama 2 (which I got in the mail on Saturday) RIGHT after I finished. If only it had happened sooner, perhaps disaster may have been averted! That game's stupid fun, by the way.

My next experiment will be a kind of temarizushi: balls of sushi rice with stuff mixed in (I think). I am thinking salmon and cream cheese. I also has an idea for hummus sushi. Hmm.

Apart from this little excursion, I've just been playing on my DS and studying for my linear algebra test tomorrow. I'm ready for Spring Break already...
